Dips are a fun way to help your kids eat & enjoy fruits and vegetables. It doesn’t get much easier than this 3 ingredient peanut butter dip that doesn’t need any tools but a spoon (and only three minutes!). So get stirring and dipping!
Dips make everything taste better. It’s practically a proven fact, especially if we’re talking about kids’ preferences. (And if we’re going with that, dips should be their own food group). This peanut butter dip is high in protein and low in sugar, and a great conduit for dipping fruit and vegetables (or even enjoying on its own).
A super simple recipe your kids will love dipping into
- 7 oz plain yogurt
- 1-2 tbsp natural peanut butter
- 1 tsp maple syrup
-
Combine all ingredients and stir well
Greek yogurt will be too thick for dipping, and can be a choking hazard for young children
Use any liquid from the yogurt and/or peanut butter to make a smoother consistency
If using non-natural peanut butter, you may need to adjust the added sweetness
Serve it 2 ways
Stick it!
Sticks make everything exciting. And it’s a great activity for kids to develop motor skills, practice patterns or math, or just forget all that and have some fun! Get creative with the fruit options (melon chunks, apple spears, berries…), but remember that many fruit can be choking hazards, and may need to be modified for kids up to 4.
Freeze it!
Frozen bananas were a summer staple in my house growing up, and this peanut butter dip has just UPPED them in a big way! Dollop some PB dip on sliced bananas and freeze for at least an hour before enjoying.
